About the BMW X2
With most SUVs, you sacrifice some driving fun in exchange for practicality but the BMW X2 exists to show that you don’t always have to. The X2 exists to give you the style and driving enjoyment of a sports sedan in an SUV package. The swooping, coupe-inspired roofline gives the X2 a distinctive style, one that sets it apart from the closely-related X1. Available M Sport options can deliver an even more aggressive appearance and sportier handling. Of course, BMW didn’t forget practicality as it includes standard all-wheel drive, four doors and a power tailgate, and plenty of cargo space in the back. A significant improvement of the prior variant, this new generation of the X2 brings more power, more excitement, as well as an updated and even more stylish look.
What the Critics Say
What’s New for 2025
Just one year removed from an extensive redesign inside and out, the dynamic BMW X2 returns for 2025 with only minor updates to its successful formula. Heated front seats are now included as standard on all trim levels for enhanced comfort in colder temperatures. Additionally, every X2 includes a trial subscription to its Wi-Fi hotspot for improved connectivity. These are the sole changes to report for 2025.
BMW X2 Features

Bold Styling
The swooping and very un-SUV lines of the exterior design of the BMW X2 are likely to be the first thing that you notice. Take a closer look and you’ll see even more details that set the X2 apart from the competition. The styling of the X2 is clearly influenced by that of the X6, giving it an aggressive, coupe-like look that hints at the impressive performance the X2 offers under the hood. State-of-the-art LED lighting, front and back, adds to the tech-forward look of the X2. There is even an option for an illuminated kidney grille. The quad-tailpipe exhaust system adds to the sportiness of the design and produces an unmistakable rumble. A truly impressive range of paint colors, wheel options, and interior upholstery and trim options all make it easy to personalize your BMW X2 just the way you want it.

Enthusiast-Level Performance
The standard 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine of the BMW X2 produces 241 horsepower, enough to get the X2 xDrive 28i to 60 MPH in just 6.2 seconds. You can choose three different driving modes including Eco Pro, Comfort, and Sport, and the 7-speed Dual Clutch automatic transmission has both Sport and Manual shift modes. All of this makes the X2 more than competitive in its segment but handling is where the X2 absolutely leaves the competition behind. Agile, responsive, and incredibly rewarding to drive, the X2 offers available Dynamic Damper Control to give you a bit more of an edge. For those wanting even more of an edge, there is the X2 M35i which brings even more aggressive styling and a 71- horsepower bump in power. The extra power shaves a full second off the standard 0-60 time of the X2 and demonstrates just how much fun a sporty compact SUV can really be.

High-Tech Cabin
It might come as a surprise to you just how much tech BMW packed into this compact SUV. The centerpiece of the BMW X2 interior is its Curved Display, which combines the 10.25-inch driver information display with the 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen to make one continuous curved piece. The screens are running iDrive 9 which is far more advanced than previous generations thanks to a switch from a Linux-based platform to an Android-based one. You can even play games (while parked) on the new system thanks to AirConsole which allows you to use your phone as a controller. Helping you keep your eyes on the road is an available head-up display that includes navigation information, all of which stays up-to-date thanks to over-the-air updates.
