About the BMW i7

The BMW 7-Series has long been proof that a luxury limousine can also be rewarding to drive. Now the i7 brings one more major luxury feature to the platform, quiet. The i7 is the all-electric version of the 7-Series, and it has everything you already love about the gasoline-powered version, plus a potent and very quiet electric drivetrain. The i7 blends the traditional luxury elements that have always made BMW vehicles great, as well as the absolute cutting edge in technology. Not just via the advanced drivetrain, but the cabin is appointed with advanced tech and luxury features that simply aren’t available from competitors. The i7 redefines what’s possible for a luxury sedan.

What the Critics Say

All-wheel drive is standard and acceleration is brisk for such a large vehicle. BMW claims the i7 xDrive60 will hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. We wouldn’t be surprised if it were even quicker. During our drive of a prototype model in Germany, we noted [its] particularly smooth ride and a hushed cabin. The i7 won’t attract buyers looking for sports-sedan handling, but those seeking a comfortable and luxurious experience will find much to like.” — Car & Driver

The interior of the BMW i7 is sure to meet or exceed your expectations for a flagship luxury sedan. It goes without saying that the interior space is generous, and the seats are comfortable. Extended Merino leather upholstery and oak trim come standard. With the BMW Individual Composition option, you can tailor this interior precisely to your liking. You have six different leather color options and interior trim options ranging from carbon fiber to four types of wood.” — Kelley Blue Book

What’s New for 2024

The i7 is still a very new model, so most of it carries over unchanged from its introduction last year. However, the drivetrain options have greatly expanded. The xDrive60 remains unchanged, but a new rear-wheel drive option is now available, the eDrive50. This option produces 449 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. At the other end of the spectrum is the M70. This uses an all-wheel drive dual-motor setup, just like the xDrive60, but here it makes 650 horsepower and 749 lb-ft of torque.

Cutting Edge Technology

As the new flagship of the All-Electric BMW line-up, the i7 is on the absolute cutting edge of automotive technology. This largest 7-Series ever also has an impressively high capacity battery, 105.6-kWh. This battery is the foundation for your choice of three different drivetrains. The first is a single-motor rear-wheel drive setup that produces 449 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque. Opt for a dual motor setup, and you get all-wheel drive, as well as 539 horsepower and 549 lb-ft of torque. Or you could choose the performance-oriented M70, which also uses a dual-motor setup, but turns the power up to 650 horsepower and 749 lb-ft of torque. On top of this, there is an estimated 321 miles** of range on a single charge (for the eDrive50 RWD trim), and DC fast charging can add 78-91 miles of range in 10 minutes. Inside you’ll find the BMW Curved Display, which merges together the 12.3-inch Digital Instrument Cluster and the 14.9-inch Central Information Display touchscreen. Below that you’ll find a new feature, the BMW Interaction Bar. This turns what is usually an inert piece of trim into dynamic illumination, integrated with controls for the air vents, glove compartment, and more.

Styling to Make a Statement

Although the electric motor in the i7 might allow you to arrive silently, you surely won’t arrive unnoticed. The large grille is illuminated, and you have the option of getting the split-element headlights made from crystal. While the i7 is large, the styling remains athletic, and communicates the advanced technology found under the sheet metal. A set of large aerodynamic wheels set the i7 apart from the conventional 7-Series, and are also designed to cut down on resistance and improve electric range. The i7 offers an impressive 14 standard paint colors, but there is also the BMW Individual option, which expands the list to 165 colors, and gives you a number of other bespoke interior options.

Your Personal Lounge

The i7’s automatic doors open to greet you to an interior that sets a new standard in luxury. Optional reclining rear seats hold you in comfort while you enjoy the optional 31-inch BMW Theater Screen, operated by 5.5-inch touchscreens integrated into the door handles, and with audio played through the standard Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System. Apple CarPlay and Android work wirelessly, and there are multiple wireless charging pads. The standard Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof comes with integrated LED lighting with customizable colors and a whole range of mood lighting options.
