About the BMW iX3
Compact SUVs are a hugely popular segment at the moment, and competition is fierce. So it makes sense that BMW waited to introduce a new electric compact SUV until the German automaker could bring out something truly groundbreaking. The iX3 is that groundbreaking EV, featuring the new “Heart of Joy” drivetrain and driving dynamics management technology, which uses four high-performance computers to integrate the drivetrain, chassis control, and human experience into one symbiotic system. Gen6 eDrive technology is used to give the iX3 incredible range, power, and fast charging capabilities. Inside, the advanced technology of the iX3 is on full display, quite literally, with the new BMW Panoramic iDrive with BMW Operating System X. BMW is saying that this is the first of the “Neue Klasse” models, a designation first used for the compact sedans that originally made BMW a household name in the US in the 1960s, in order to emphasize just how groundbreaking this new model is.
BMW iX3 Features

Advanced Drivetrain
The iX3 uses a pair of electric motors to deliver power to all four wheels, with a more powerful motor at the back for improved handling in corners. Total output comes to 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque, an incredible amount for a compact vehicle, and it’s no wonder it can hit 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The motors are incredibly efficient too, helped by the especially aerodynamic design of the body, and maximum range is a hugely impressive 400 miles. The 800-volt architecture also allows for industry-leading 400 kW DC fast charging, allowing you to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 21 minutes. The drivetrain is controlled by a system called the “Heart of Joy”, which controls every aspect of the chassis with four high-performance computer “superbrains” to deliver the most seamless driver-machine interaction of all time.

High-Tech Interior
Inside and out, the iX3 uses a completely new design language, emphasizing that this is a vehicle unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. There’s more to it than just looks as well; the iX3 instruments and infotainment use a new operating system, known as BMW Operating System X. This works with the BMW ConnectedDrive Store to bring you an ever-evolving selection of apps from categories like Music & Audio, Entertainment, Gaming, News, Travel & Local. Even Zoom is available for the first time in any vehicle, allowing for video calling while the vehicle is parked. The user interface is new as well, called BMW Panoramic iDrive, it has a large central touchscreen and a dash-spanning screen that displays important information for the driver. It also comes equipped with Amazon Alexa+, so that you can operate the system via voice commands, keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
