About The All-New 2027 BMW 3 Series

BMW built its reputation on sport sedans, and the 3 Series is the foundation of that reputation. The eighth-generation 3 Series was developed alongside its electric counterpart, the i3, to give both vehicles the same incredible, signature BMW handling, excellent interior comfort, and cutting-edge technology. The gas-powered 3 Series is available with either a four- or six-cylinder engine, and comes standard with rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. The styling includes a new interpretation of the kidney grille, incorporating a new lighting signature and a design that is at once sleek and modern, but clearly harkens back to BMW heritage. The driver-focused interior maximizes engagement behind the wheel, while still offering an exceptional level of comfort for everyone.

What the Critics Say

Along with new styling and updated underpinnings, BMW has remained dedicated to tuning its cars with driving enthusiasts in mind. BMW uses a new steering ratio, which it says should improve driver control, and its brakes have been upgraded for consistent feel and precise modulation.” – MotorTrend
The 3 Series is BMW’s bread-and-butter sedan; for decades, it has effortlessly combined a luxurious ride with sporty handling. So deftly has it balanced these seemingly opposing attributes that it has long served as the benchmark against which other German sport sedans are judged. The upcoming 2027 BMW 3 Series launches the eighth-generation model, and it looks to keep that trend going while also making huge changes to the car’s interior, tech, and everything in between.” – Edmunds

What’s New For 2027?

2027 marks the introduction of the eighth generation of the 3 Series, and the accompanying full redesign. This is the most radically new 3 Series in twenty years, and it leans into the strengths that have always made the 3 Series an industry leader. Two gasoline engines are available, and the conventional 3 Series has also been developed alongside the new i3, making the electric stablemate less of a distinct model and more of an alternative drivetrain.

Class-Leading Performance

The 3 Series comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 255 horsepower. It comes with a mild hybrid system and is available with your choice of rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This makes for a sedan that’s fun to drive, but enthusiasts will take notice of the M350, which comes with a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine that makes 437 horsepower. This also comes with a mild hybrid system, although this one is less mild than most, providing 17 of the 437 horses on its own. This variant is all-wheel drive-only, but don’t fear; those who yearn for a controlled slide can do so with the new Drift Moment feature, which lets you break traction on the rear wheels by decoupling the front axle. Available adaptive suspension on the 330, or Adaptive M Suspension on the M350, ensures flat cornering that doesn’t sacrifice comfort.

Luxury Interior

The great thing about a sport sedan is that it gives you the driving dynamics of a sports car with the space and comfort of a sedan. This has always been where the 3 Series shines, with a driver-centric approach that features a wraparound design that is as much a style statement as it is functional. The doors join with the dash in a way that makes seating controls more accessible, while the dash tilts the large touchscreen towards the driver to make operation easier. An available panoramic roof lets in natural light, while ambient LED lighting, including lights that shine through the dash, sets the mood at night. Available Multi-Functional Seats are exceptionally comfortable, while also providing the support of a sport seat. And since a great listening experience is an important part of a luxury interior, the 3 Series is available with a premium Harman Kardon surround sound system.

Advanced Technology

One of the most important features of the 3 Series is something you can’t see. The 3 Series uses four superbrain high-performance computers to control drive systems, brakes, and steering subfunctions, all 20 times faster than the previous generation of the 3 Series. That means everything is more responsive and feels more natural, like the car is an extension of yourself. This also allows for SAE Level 2 driver-assistance systems and active-safety functions with BMW Symbiotic Drive, helping to keep you safe and comfortable behind the wheel. Selectable drive modes let you dial in the right vehicle settings for different situations. And the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is always there to help you use voice commands to better keep your eyes on the road.
